Dairy to Nourish Pitta Dosha

  • Goat’s Cheese (soft, unsalted)
  • Foods to Limit or Avoid

    • Butter (salted)
    • Buttermilk
    • Cheese (hard)
    • Frozen Yogurt
    • Sour Cream
    • Yogurt (store-bought, or with fruit)

    *Almond and rice milk are good substitutes for those who can’t tolerate animal milk well.

    As a rule, dairy milk (cow’s milk, goat’s milk, sheep’s milk, etc.) should be taken at least one hour before or after any other food.

  • Goat’s Milk
  • Yogurt (homemade, diluted, without fruit)
  • Ice Cream
  • Goat’s Cheese (soft, unsalted)

    Dairy products tend to be grounding, nourishing, and cooling, helping to balance pitta dosha.

    • Ghee
    • Goat’s Milk
